SUMMARY:Art Nouveau: Age of Elegance
DESCRIPTION:\nArt Nouveau: Age of Elegance explores an influential art and design movement that emerged in the early 1900s. Art Nouveau, meaning “new art” in French, was a reaction against mass-produced goods and industrial design, aiming instead to bring beauty, craftsmanship, and artistic expression into everyday life.\n\n\n\nInspired by nature, the iconic style of Art Nouveau is known for its flowing curves, floral and plant motifs, and elegant, decorative patterns. It appeared across a wide range of art forms, including architecture, furniture, posters, glass, ceramics, and more, leaving a lasting impact on design around the world.\n\n\n\nThis exhibition brings the Art Nouveau era to life with a stunning collection of rare and decorative pieces, including original Mucha posters, rare Amphora ceramics, elegant furniture of the era, glowing Tiffany glass lamps and vases, Japanese prints, colorful French and Czech posters, bronze sculptures, paintings and drawings from the Gilded Age, and so much more!\n\n\n\nFeatured artists include well-known names like Alphonse Mucha, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Émile Gallé, Edgar Degas, Hector Guimard, and John Singer Sargent. These works come from prestigious collections, including the Richard H. Driehaus Art Exhibition Lending Foundation, the Dr. Thomas and Jill Archambeau Collection, and the Baker Pisano Collection at the Muskegon Museum of Art.\n\n\n\nOctober 2 – January 18, END DATE EXTENDED!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvents & Programming:\n\n\n\nAn Art Nouveau Evening\n\n\n\n\nSaturday, September 27\n\n\n\n\nMember Only Preview (RSVP ONLY)\n\n\n\n\nWednesday, October 1 | 5-7 PM – Click here to RSVP\n\n\n\n\nExhibition Opening Day\n\n\n\n\nThursday, October 2 | 11 AM – 8 PM\n\n\n\n\nOn Art Lecture Series: Glasgow Girls of Art Nouveau ( https://muskegonartmuseum.org/event/art-talk-glasgow-girls-of-art-nouveau/ )\n\n\n\n\nPresented by Erin Walling\n\n\n\nThursday, October 30 | 12 PM & 4:30 PM\n\n\n\nFree & Open to the Public\n\n\n\n\nSuper Saturday ( https://muskegonartmuseum.org/event/super-saturday/ )\n\n\n\n\nSaturday, October 18 | 11 AM-2 PM\n\n\n\nNature Sketched in Gold, inspired by Art Nouveau: Age of Elegance\n\n\n\nUnderwritten by Howmet Aerospace\n\n\n\n\nCurator Flash Tours: Thursday, December 18 ( https://muskegonartmuseum.org/event/curator-flash-tour-art-nouveauage-of-elegance/ )\n\n\n\n\nThursday, December 18 | 4:30 – 6:30 PM\n\n\n\nExplore Art Nouveau: Age of Elegance with MMA Curators.
