MUSKEGON, MI — Capturing the unique and powerful stories of the inspiring people who are living, working, and transforming the Muskegon community, the Muskegon Museum of Art presents Through Our Lens: Hands, an exhibition of stories told through the hands of our community. December 15 – March 12.
Through striking black and white photography by local photographer, Jennifer Green, the visuals of Through Our Lens: Hands focus exclusively on the hands of each individual as they share their story. Green’s photography captures the emotional depth of each story in a way that evokes a sense of empathy, hope, love, triumph, and more.
Complimenting Green’s photography in the exhibition are written stories, transcribed by local journalist, Susan Harrison-Wolffis. Known for her passionate storytelling, Harrison-Wolffis traveled with Green to meet with each individual and listen to their stories. She recorded and transcribed their words into written works of art which will be displayed next to each photograph in the exhibition.
Hands hold the history of their person, and it is the goal of this exhibition to share a small piece of their history and how each of these hands has worked to make Muskegon a better place for all.
The Muskegon Museum of Art is proud to present Through Our Lens: Hands from December 15 through March 12. A public opening reception will be held on Thursday, December 15 at 5 PM, followed by an Artist Talk with Jennifer Green and Susan Harrison-Wolffis at 6 PM.
Through Our Lens: Hands is underwritten by DTE Foundation, PNC Bank, and Rehmann. For more information or questions, contact Kristina Broughton at [email protected] or call at 231-720-2574.
