Caterina Urrata Weintraub works in a variety of techniques, including torch work, casting, and glass blowing, to create objects that are inspired by the memories and dreams of childhood. Her sculptures include playful mice and other animals, glass marionettes, and finger puppets.
Weintraub began her glass blowing career studying bead making and other flame work at the Worcester Center for Crafts, Pittsburgh Glass Center, Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, various internships, and with her husband, glass artist David Weintraub. She earned a BFA with a concentration in glass from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2012. In 2010, she opened the Fiamma Glass Studio with her husband, teaching private and group lessons in addition to producing her own art. She is also an adjunct professor at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
