Where do i park at the MMA?

Parking is free at the MMA. Please park in our lots on the corner of Clay Ave. and 2nd St. or 2nd St. and Webster. There is also free street parking near the Museum. Please see the Museum map to view where our parking lots are located.

What are the benefits of becoming an MMA member?

MMA members get free or discounted entry into all exhibition and events at the Museum. Members also get early access to new exhibitions and are the first to know about upcoming events.

How can I get involved at the MMA?

There are many ways to get involved with the MMA through internships, volunteering, becoming a docent, and memberships! Can the MMA appraise my artwork?

The Museum’s curators can not appraise or estimate the value of art from private collections. The MMA does have an appraisal fair every October where professional appraisers will be on site to look at art, antiques, and valuable objects.

Can I take photographs of artwork in the Museum?

Photographs may be taken of objects belonging to MMA. No flashes or lights of any kind are permitted. No selfie-sticks, tripods, bipods, monopods or video cameras are permitted unless requested and approved beforehand. Photographs are to be taken for the private use of the photographer and are not to be used for resale or publicity purposes. Photography may not interfere with group activities or tours in the galleries.

How does the MMA comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act?

The Muskegon Museum of Art is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and welcomes people with special needs. The Museum’s building is accessible to persons with disabilities. For more information, visit our Accessibility page.

Who owns the Muskegon Museum of Art?

The Muskegon Museum of Art Foundation has owned the Muskegon Museum of Art since July 1, 2014. Prior to that date, the Museum was owned by the Muskegon Public Schools Board of Education since its inception in 1912.

What is the age range for Super Saturday?

Super Saturday is great for children of all ages, as well as adults.

Can I take engagement or wedding photos inside the museum?

Yes, but please contact MMA ahead of time to set up a date and time. No flash photography, large setups, or extra lights are allowed. Please do not disturb the other visitors in the museum. An admission fee may be charged.

Can I reserve space for a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, or other event?

Unfortunately, we do not offer event space for personal events at this time. 

How can i show my artwork at the MMA?

The MMA plans exhibitions years in advance, but we do accept unsolicited submissions. Please send a one-sheet proposal, sample images, and current CV to the director of collections and exhibitions at [email protected].

How can i donate artwork to the museum?

Please contact our director of collections and exhibitions about donating your artwork to the MMA. Gift offers are reviewed by our collections commitee for suitability to the collection. Email [email protected].

How is the MMA funded?

The MMA is privately funded through donations, memberships, admission, underwriting support, fundraisers, grants, and endowments.

What are the MMA's hours of operations?

The Museum is open six days per week.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 11 AM – 5 PM
Thursdays: 11 AM – 8 PM
Sunday: 11 AM – 5 PM

How many visitors does the MMA receive annually?

The MMA has approximately 30,000 visitors annually.
