Calling all Lauvers! The Muskegon Museum of Art is excited to share that we are an official Celebration of The Arts stop for this year’s A Very Laufey Day. Join us Sunday, August 23rd where we’ll have limited-time Laufey merch, A Very Laufey Day self-guided museum companion, a Laufey merch giveaway, and a special Laufey themed drink available in our gift shop!

The Bennett Collection:
The Bennett Collection, established by Steven Alan Bennett and Dr. Elaine Melotti-Schmidt, celebrates historic and contemporary women figurative realist painters. Founded on the belief that women artists deserve to be paid, collected, and exhibited the same as their male counterparts, Steven and Elaine have championed women artists by supporting their work through their collecting and funding The Bennett Prize, a biennial art prize awarded to women figurative realist painters. It is Steven and Elaine’s hope that their Collection will encourage women painters to pursue figurative realism and likewise encourage others to collect work by women.
Our Permanent Collection:
The Muskegon Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection began in 1911, a year before the museum was even built. Since then, the MMA has collected over 5,000 works of art and continues to add more each year. The collection includes a diverse range of historical American and European art, as well as contemporary works by up-and-coming artists of today.
