The media is invited to an exclusive Media Sneak Peek Party on Tuesday, May 21 from 1-3 PM at the Muskegon Museum of Art to see our upcoming exhibition, John Steuart Curry: Weathering the Storm.

The exhibition, which opens to the public on Thursday, May 23, is expected to drive a national audience to the Muskegon Museum of Art (MMA) this summer. John Steuart Curry was one of America’s most influential artists of the 1920s as his artwork shaped the national perception of life in the Midwest, often depicting scenes of natural disasters and severe weather. Weathering the Storm will highlight new research about the life and art of Curry and display all of his masterworks under the same roof for the first time in over two decades.

To make this exhibition possible, the Muskegon Museum of Art will be borrowing Curry’s artwork from many well-known art museums around the country, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, Cincinnati Museum of Art, Saint Louis Art Museum, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and more. It’s not often a small art museum like the MMA can borrow such a major collection of artwork and have the resources to curate an exhibition of this size.

Below you will find a press release, fact sheet, and more about the exhibition and for the Media Sneak Peek Party. In addition to the Weathering the Storm exhibition, we will be offering hard hat tours of our $15M museum expansion project for all media.
